About Me

I'm Chris Davies. I run Monacle, a small software consultancy.

I've been building software for 25 years—everything from credit union systems and shipping terminal automation to data visualization tools at Elastic and datacenter infrastructure at Microsoft. I've led teams, taught at a code school, and shipped products from scratch.

These days, I help teams and companies in a few ways:

• AI-augmented development — training teams to work effectively with tools like Claude Code
• Technical leadership — architecture, system design, and unblocking teams as a fractional CTO or technical advisor
• Hands-on development — joining projects to ship features and meet deadlines
• Startup support — helping founders get from idea to working product as a technical co-founder
